Steve and Catchie Huntley left their Tennessee home to take up residence in a two- bedroom cottage at Countryside. That was over a year ago and the couple are thrilled with both their home and more importantly, their new lifestyle.
The Huntleys came to the area to be near their daughter, Marian Hogan, who lives in nearby Summerfield. Catchie, 78, recalled how she and Marian spent a week riding around the area looking for a place. Nothing seemed quite right. On a whim, the two drove through Countryside. Catchie instantly fell in love with the community.
“I really, really liked the ambiance. It’s so serene and peaceful,” she said. “We’ve never had a doubt that we made the right decision. “It was hard to leave our friends behind but we’ve made so many new friends,” she added. “We felt like we were immediately part of things and felt right at home.”
Finding a place that offered a choice of activities was important for the couple. They were delighted to find that Countryside provided an excellent selection. We’re very active here,” said Steve, 81. “We go every morning to coffee hour and we both have responsibilities with the resident’s association. I love to walk and go a couple of times a day. There’s plenty of space for that.”
As a member of the association’s social committee, Catchie spends a lot of time planning community events. This past Easter, the committee hosted an egg hunt for children in the area. During the summer, they put together a resident cook-out and are currently working on plans for a trip to a local winery.
For the Huntleys and couples like them, Countryside Village offers a way of life that’s comfortable and fulfilling. “I can’t think of enough good to say about this place,” said Catchie. “I know one size doesn’t fit all but I can’t imagine someone not liking it here.”
